|STATEN ISLAND HISTORICAL SOCIETY-HISTORIC RICHMOND TOWN
The Staten Island Historical Society, in partnership with the City of New York operates Historic Richmond Town, the only living history village in the five boroughs. Throughout the year, the Historical Society provides educational and cultural programming for all segments of the metropolitan area--with a particular emphasis on programs for schoolchildren. Costumed interpreters and craftspeople re-enact 19th century daily life. Special events include the Richmond County Fair, tavern concerts, commemorations of Black History Month and Women's History Month and seasonal celebrations. During October, the Historical Society also offers pumpkin picking at its Decker Farm site, the last private working farm in New York City.
