COMMUNICATIONS ADVISORY COUNCIL
Award-Winning Global Advertising Agency TBWA\CHIAT\DAY Donates Creative Services; Advertising and Media Industry Leaders to Develop
National Multi-Media Campaign to Help Build Memorial
The World Trade Center Memorial Foundation today announced the creation of the World Trade Center Memorial Communications Advisory Council, comprised of advertising and media industry leaders. The Advisory Council will develop a comprehensive multi-media campaign to generate broad-based financial support for the Memorial from individuals and corporations. The Memorial Foundation also announced that the award-winning global advertising agency, TBWA\CHIAT\DAY, has committed to develop the creative content for the campaign on a volunteer basis.
“The Memorial Foundation is grateful for the support of such extraordinary leaders from the advertising and media industry,” Chairman John Whitehead said. “I want to thank TBWA\CHIAT\DAY for their tremendous generosity in volunteering to develop the creative for this national outreach campaign. TBWA\CHIAT\DAY is a world-renowned and talented firm and we are honored to work with them.
“This Council will provide enormous support to the Memorial efforts by helping to build public awareness and generate contributions. We look forward to launching the campaign next spring,” said Mr. Whitehead.
“TBWA\CHIAT\DAY is honored to have the opportunity to contribute to the lasting memory of September 11th and to support this most important effort to remember all that we lost and how our lives were forever changed on that fateful day,” TBWA Vice Chairman, Tom Carroll said.
Matthew Scheckner, President and CEO of Empire Sports & Entertainment and the Executive Director of Advertising Week, was instrumental in the formation of the Advisory Council. Mr. Scheckner will chair the group for the Memorial Foundation.
“As a New Yorker, it is a privilege to be able to help lead the public campaign to build the World Trade Center Memorial. The resounding support we have garnered from the leadership of the advertising & media industry is a concrete manifestation of the commitment of Madison Avenue to do our part to remember September 11th,” said Scheckner.
