From Mon Mar 03, 2008 3:00 am to Fri Mar 07, 2008 2:59 am (included)
|We sent out complete copies of the “Changing the Face of Staten Island” Graffiti Removal Program to all High Schools on Staten Island.
We also sent out copies to all three colleges, the SIEDC, the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce and the Staten Island Board of Realtors.
We do not have the necessary funds to send complete copies to all grammar and intermediate schools but we are sending letters with instructions on how to download a copy.
We could use your help spreading the word or forwarding the attached. Or if you know anyone who would like to fund the copying or shipping costs please let us know.
We have already begun getting calls from people of all ages who are fed up with the state of the Island and who want to help.
We have also been notified that there were three additional graffiti busts last night, two of them involving minors.
The Richmond County Criminal Courts have begun sending defendants to us to make sure they do clean ups to satisfy their sentences. We hope that the Family Court will do the same.
We are in the process of looking for space for a Town Hall Meeting on the graffiti problem. Once we set a date and location we will let you know. It will have to be a large venue as it will be open up to the public.
I will also be speaking at the SICHAT event this Saturday to discuss our program and was thinking about getting a table at the SIEDC Forum this year. But again funding is an issue... (http://www.where-to-turn.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=41783)
I have posted links to our program on various blogs on SILIVE and U-Tube has offered to post videos and other items about our programs free of charge.
I need help if anyone has the expertise.
I am also looking for some volunteers to put together a video presentation for the Town Hall Meeting. Let me know if anyone is interested.
Still looking for volunteers for this weekend’s cleanup and for graffiti spotting.
Have not heard back on any of my grant requests but I am holding out hope.
I will be away from the office over the next couple of days but you can reach me by cell at 718-619-2371.
