From Sun Mar 09, 2008 4:00 am to Fri Mar 14, 2008 3:59 am (included)
|As you know we completed the cleanup of Port Richmond Ave today.
Next weekend we will finish up Boulder Creek and depending on volunteers clean up the following.
South Shore Little League on Hylan Blvd and Page Ave.
59 Racal Court (across from the Mall). Waiting on a waiver.
130 Simosen Ave (back of St. Mary’s Church) Waiting on a waiver.
And for the following sites for which we have waivers
297 Edison St
1 West Cedarview Ave
460 Bradley Ave
237 Portage Ave
105 Rydell Ave
We have requested paint and supplies from the Mayor’s Graffiti Task Force but have not heard back.
If need be we will purchase our own.
Three of these locations need to be power washed and we will use mine until we are able to purchase an industrial one.
We also we be scheduling the cleanup of the New Springfield Little League.
Later this week we will be releasing a press release announcing the formation of our first adopt a block teams.
We currently have a few volunteers requesting waivers and we should have at least 50 by the end of the week.
We are still looking for a centrally located venue for our town hall meeting on graffiti that we are planning for April. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Also if anyone has address labels for all of the grammar and intermediate schools on Staten Island it would be a great help.
We are looking for single points of contacts for each school and could use help from PTA’s etc.
We want to get as much feedback as we can for our school presentation.
We also need some production help for our PSA’s and videos for YOUTUBE.
We have asked Target, Home Depot and Lowes to donate a power washer, paint sprayer or supplies to this effort but have not heard back.
Tests of our new non toxic product have been very successful and the Parks department has expressed interest in it at the SICHAT Forum this past Saturday.
If someone agrees to keep their block graffiti free (utility poles, mail boxes, bus signs) we will give them a quart of the product.
Spray it one and you can wipe away the graffiti with a wet soupy cloth.
We have been asked to clean up some abandoned buildings (Shell Station on Hylan, Mobil Station near Mall, Café Pasta etc) but we cannot clean them up without waivers.
We have asked the Staten Island Board of Realtors to help out but have not heard back.
We have been invited to speak at 3 community meetings and are hoping to get invited to the full Community Board Meetings as well as the Chamber of Commerce and are considering getting a table at the SIEDC Forum.
We have spent over $400 over the past two weekends buying paint and supplies and will have another $400 in copying costs as we are making 500 copies of the attached for people without computers.
Funding will soon become an issue.
We continue to work with the Criminal Courts having offenders work off their time cleaning up locations we hope to make the same arrangement for the Family Courts but have not heard anything.
That’s all for now.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
