Good News

The Clean Team truck is finally out of moth balls and the officers of the 122 Precinct were out today cleaning up locations that they asked us to identify.

We are hoping to set up a regular schedule with all 3 precincts now that the truck is available.

We also spoke with the the 123 Precinct and we will be setting up regular cleanups with them starting this weekend.

We will be out early Saturday morning cleaning up security gates that have been tagged.

Any gate reported to us by Friday will be included in the cleanup.

At 9:30 we will head over to assist the NSWC with the graffiti portion of their last waterfront clean up of the year at Snug Harbor Esplanade. For those of you that may not be familiar with Snug Harbor Esplanade it is located across the street from Snug Harbor Cultural Center, 1000 Richmond Terrace.

If you would like to join in the cleanup which runs from 9:30 AM to Noon click the link below for details.

Scott is currently working on Flag # 11 at the corner of Rossville Ave and Arthur Kill Road. This will be one of his largest murals and will have representations of the current as well as the first American flags. This mural is being sponsored by the Richmond County Bank Foundation and when he is finished Scott will then will be off to 218 Morningstar Road to start # 12.

Bad News

We will not be able to start mural # 13 until we get more sponsors.

Better News

We do have commitments from

Senator Lanza

Assemblyman Titone

Assemblywoman Hyer-Spencer

Councilman Oddo

Councilman Ignizio

And will begin these murals as soon as funds are received.

They will join the list of elected officials sponsoring murals that already includes District Attorney Dan Donovan, Assemblyman Michael Cusick and Councilman James Oddo.

Just think of how many more we could do if each of our Congressional candidates (there are enough of them) sponsored one each.

We are also a little disappointed in the lack of response from businesses, community and civic groups and foundations.

To date our sponsors have been

Mural 1 Assemblyman Cusick

Mural 2 Councilman Oddo & Where to Turn

Mural 3 Northfield Savings Bank Foundation

Mural 4 Victory State Bank & The Richmond County District Attorney

Mural 5 Engine Company 161 & Ladder 81

Mural 6 Gateway Arms Realty & The Richmond County District Attorney

Mural 7 Madeline Bergin

Mural 8 The Staten Island Board of Realtors

Mural 9 R H Tugs & The Richmond County Bank Foundation

Mural 10 The Free Lighting Corporation & The Richmond County Bank Foundation

Mural 11 The Richmond County Bank Foundation

Mural 12 The Richmond County Bank Foundation

We do hope that others will join this effort.

To date none of the murals have been tagged.
