We currently have 350 students assigned to seniors and are waiting to hear back from another 25.

I spoke at a meeting of the Federation of Catholic School Parents last night and asked them to promote the program at their schools.

If we can get one person at each school involved (teacher, administrator or even a parent) we can easily double our number of volunteers.

Good News Story

IS 75 took the package I sent (which was sent to all IS, Grammar and High Schools on Staten Island) and really promoted the program.

Prior to Thanksgiving they called us and told us that the response was good and that they would be sending us a batch of applications.

The mail came today and in it was a package from IS 75 that contained 95 student applications.

Now we don’t expect every school to have such a response but we would hope that a few more would follow the lead of IS 75, Monsignor Farrell, St. Peters Boys, St. Clare’s, St. Joseph by the Sea and IS 49 and join the over 20 club.

Even if we get 10 volunteers from each remaining school we could easily shovel for 1,500 seniors which is double our goal of 750.

We are coming down to the wire as there is a possibility of snow this Sunday and needless to say the phone is ringing off the hook with seniors asking if we have found them a volunteer or asking to register.

We are hard at work matching our latest students to seniors.

Please do us a favor. If you have not heard about the program at your child’s school please ask them why.

I have attached an application and program description that you can distribute

Also if you have any contacts with youth groups (Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts etc) please ask them as well as we have not gotten a call from any such groups.

Thanks

Dennis
