To All,

We enter 2009 with 94 sites pending (see attached for breakdown).

We all know that there are many more tagged sites (300-400) but these 94 are the only ones that we can address as we can only clean locations for which we have waivers.

We will attempt to continue to clean up locations but with winter here our outings will be limited.

In the meantime I will be using my court ordered volunteers to obtain additional waivers.

I have also attached a waiver application.

Feel free to make copies and get them filled out for locations in your neighborhoods.

Completed waivers can be faxed back to Where to Turn (718-966-6515) or Councilman Oddo’s office (718-980-1051)

Once the weather gets better we will continue our weekly cleanups

We still have a major problem with the following

Metal gates on businesses

Boards at construction sites

Unoccupied buildings.

We will once again reach out to SIBOR, the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce, the SIEDC, and our elected officials to help us get these owners on board.

We are also planning a Town Hall Meeting in February or March to get everyone else on board.

If we still do not obtain waivers for these sites we will need the Department of Sanitation to start issuing summonses.

Our goal this year is to work with the CAU and the NYPD to keep the total number of pending locations under 100 from May through December.

We will continue our effort to acquire funding for the Q-Star cameras to assist the Graffiti Task Force.

We are also continuing our Flag Across Staten Island Project and are looking for sponsors for the 23 remaining murals.

Scott has completed 25 (click link below) and two are in process.

We welcome your comments or ideas.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
