Scott will be putting the finishing touches on mural # 40 at Staten Island University Hospital tomorrow.

This flag is dedicated to those Staten Islanders who died on 9/11 and will rise above the listing of victimsí names on the front wall of the hospital.

The shadows of the towers will appear in the mural.

As soon as he finishes he will begin mural # 41 at 1910 Hylan Blvd.

This mural will be sponsored by Not Just Bagels and Councilman Oddo.

The owners of Not Just Bagels are the first business to take advantage of the opportunity to get a full mural for just a $ 500 donation as Councilman Oddo will be cosponsoring 8 additional murals (a total of 10). We are looking for 8 additional co-sponsors.

As Scott continues the murals we will continue our weekly cleanups.

To date we have cleaned 237 tagged locations.

The NYPD Staten Island Graffiti Task Force continues to do a great job and there have been 69 graffiti arrests YTD.

As of today over 70 youthful offenders have been sentenced through Where to Turn and have performed over 3,000 hours of community service cleaning graffiti, parks and beaches.

A special thanks to PO Reinhold and all the other officers of the 122 and the 123 precincts for assisting us on these outings.

We have received grants from the SI Foundation and the Richmond County Bank Foundation to help us purchase supplies and will also be receiving grants from Assemblyman Tobacco and Councilman Ignizio to purchase two additional Q-Star anti graffiti cameras.

We will be out again on Saturday doing a beach/graffiti cleanup in Tottenville.

Why donít you join us?

Dennis
