9/11 Heroes to Ask Congressman to Set Date for Consideration of 9/11 Aid Bill

The Fealgood Foundation, the NYC Firefighter Brotherhood Foundation & the 9/11 Police Aid Foundation

Long Branch, NJ-On Monday, January 25th at 11.00 am, a coalition of 9/11 organizations, responders, widows, volunteers & labor unions will rally in front of the office of Congressman Frank Pallone, Chairman of the House Health Subcommittee. The James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act, a bill to provide health care and compensation for 9/11 heroes has not yet been reported from Congressman Pallones subcommittee. The Responders and others will urge Congressman Pallone to set a date for the bill to be voted on.

Eight years have passed since this great country witnessed the worst terrorist attack on American soil. Brave men and women uniformed and non-uniformed came from across the country (431 of 435 congressional districts represented) to aid NYC and to ensure the safety of the American people. Since that time, the federal government has yet to pass a permanent program to help those who gave of themselves. The James Zadroga 9/11 Health & Compensation Act would guarantee health care for those affected by 09//11/01 and compensate those who have been financially ruined by their heroic actions eight years ago. We just want a date for the bill to be voted on.

Our resolve & testament has been tested. Our faith in leadership again has been questioned. The hard work of a few that advocates for thousands has seen years of gathering support for our bill jeopardized and put on the shelf again. We simply can not afford to continue this path of neglect & denial when human life takes a back set to bailouts, cash for clunkers & careless government spending.

The 9/11 responder fraternity & community sends their condolences to the amazing people of Haiti. But we too wish to hear the words & phrases unconditional support, assistance, help is on its way, unwavering & united from leadership in D.C.

Any nation that does not honor its heroes will not long endure

Abraham Lincoln
