10,000 T-Shirts for Haiti Project

Where to Turn, the Anthony R. Gaeta Democratic Club, the 9/11 Police Foundation, and the Richmond County Young Republicans will kick off a project that will bring schools, community groups and businesses together in an effort to collect 10,000 t-shirts which will be shipped to survivors in Haiti.

Staten Island, N.Y. On Friday January 29, we will join with local elected officials and community groups to introduce this project which will enable people to help the survivors of the recent earthquake in Haiti by donating gently worn or new t-shirts.

As water and medical supplies are being shipped we are planning ahead as many of these survivors have lost all of their belongings in the earthquake.

We are looking for Staten Islanders, New Yorkers or anyone else to collect and donate T-Shirts to Where to Turn. We will sort and package these shirts and work with other groups and our contacts in Haiti at the World Cares Center to coordinate the shipping and distribution.

We feel that this will be a way for everyone who may not be able to afford monetary donations to get involved in the relief effort.

We will be reaching out to all local schools, businesses and community groups to coordinate collection drives and to donate shirts from previous events.

We are also looking for individuals to donate any excess t-shirts that everyone seems to have to people who desperately need them.

We will be setting off drop off points and coordinating pick ups.

Our goal is to collect a minimum of 10,000 t-shirts over the next few weeks.
