ASSEMBLYMAN LOU TOBACCO & LEADER BRIAN KOLB TO HOST PEOPLE’S CONVENTION TO REFORM NEW YORK TOWN HALL MEETING
Staten Island Assemblyman believes Convention could be Catalyst for Real Change in Albany
To put the wheels of reform in motion, Assemblyman Lou Tobacco (R,C,I-Staten Island) is hosting a People’s Convention to Reform New York Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday, September 29 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Historic Richmond Town Court House, 441 Clarke Avenue, Staten Island. Assemblyman Tobacco will be joined at the event by Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb.
Assemblyman Tobacco and Leader Kolb are supporting legislation that would place the question of convening a People’s Convention before voters. A People’s Convention will be comprised of regular citizens, not politicians, as a means of bringing change to state government. If enacted, this legislation will give New Yorkers the ability to transform their government before 2017, which is the next time the question of holding a Constitutional Convention is automatically put on the ballot for a vote.
