Press Release

July 26th, 2011

Contact: John Feal 631 724 3320, 516 901 7427

Dear Friends, Supporters and Fellow First Responders:

Today, an important report regarding September 11th and cancer was issued by the United States Department of Health & Human Services. Unfortunately the report concludes that there is insufficient medical evidence to support a link between the exposure to Ground Zero toxins and various forms of cancer at this time. While the FealGood Foundation respects and appreciates the scientific process that HHS must go through, we are certain that forthcoming medical evidence will establish such a link. As we have seen countless of our brethren fall to a form of this horrible disease time and again following 9/11, we know in our hearts, having breathed in those noxious fumes and having spent hour after hour in that undeniably toxic air, that many forms of cancer are due to our exposure at the Site.

We have advocated for an aggressive approach towards the medical treatment of cancer by HHS, believing that cancer patients are not receiving the appropriate care under the program. We strongly believe that cancer should be a covered impairment for medical treatment and monitoring under the Zadroga bill now. We will continue to advocate for cancer's inclusion on behalf of the First Responder community and will not rest until this is accomplished.

While today's news is disappointing, we are thankful that it is not the final word on this topic and look forward to working with HHS in the future in order to have appropriate medical treatment for ALL World Trade Center illnesses.

Sincerely,

The FealGood Foundation
