PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD TO ALL STATEN ISLAND FRIENDS!
On Friday from 11-3pm, we will be setting up at Miller Field, (New Dorp High School) serving food, delivering food, making cupcakes, face painting, ornament making and more!!! These efforts may seem trivial, but after seeing the devastation first hand, I feel strong...ly that residents and victims deserve some brightness in their day----read on

As Thanksgiving approaches, our thoughts remain with those whose lives are deeply affected by Hurricane Sandy. While we feel extremely fortunate that normalcy has returned to our own lives, we feel strongly about helping those who have been hit the hardest as they endure the very difficult and emotional task of rebuilding their lives.

After considering several different ways to spread some cheer during the holiday season, we decided to partner with a new organization called ‘Moms with Heart & Food’. On the day after Thanksgiving (November 23rd), we will load up supplies, drive to Staten Island, and meet up with a specialty food truck which will prepare hot, healthy and delicious meals to those in need. We will help serve the food, assist children in decorating their own cookies and cupcakes for dessert, and organize craft projects for the kids.

We’re looking for help in order to make this event a big success!

WHAT CAN YOU DO?
• SPREAD THE WORD
You can help us by forwarding this to anyone who you think might be interested in donating and/or baking, and most importantly---ATTENDING. Also, if you think a specific area/street could use a pick me up, please contact me. We have been working with local officials to get their ideas as well.

• BAKE
While preparing for your Thanksgiving celebration, consider making sugar cookies or plain cupcakes for a great cause. You can enlist your kids to help with the baking! Please drop off baked goods at either of our houses anytime on Thanksgiving or by 9am on Friday November 23rd.

• JOIN US
Come to Staten Island with us to spread good cheer, serve dessert, or share your special talent (i.e. craft making, face painting, ornament decorating). We’d love to hear any ideas that you have! Please email us if you are interested in joining us so that we make sure that we have a specific role for you.

We’re confident that you’ll be helping to put smiles on a child who gets to pick out his or her own meal; an adult who no longer has a kitchen to cook in; groups of people who will have the opportunity to socialize while they eat a nice meal together, and many more! We look forward to capturing these images and forwarding them to you after we return home.
