TOY STORE UPDATE
Day six and another 28 families and 168 toys distributed
In only six days we have distributed 1419 toys
We left last night a little concerned as the shelves were looking a little bare.
We got a call today from Joe Borelli and he said a truck was on the way with 1,000.
Well thanks to Joe’s truck and all the toys from Monsignor Farrell the shelves are once again fully stocked
We are expecting a very busy weekend so keep those toys coming.
If you haven’t yet please stop by and say hello.
We are waiting on the 1,000 Hess trucks.
We also received quite a few calls about people planning to donate.
I was interviewed by Anthony Pascale for this week in Staten Island.
I spent 12 minutes discussing the Toy Store and 3 minutes questioning what is being done with the over $200 million collected by the Red Cross
We are finalizing plans with Scott to do his tin foil sculpture Saturday.
We received a generous $1,500 donation from a 9/11 family member,
We purchased $500 in movie tickets and are going to buy $1,000 in gifts for older kids.
I just want to say that I have the greatest group of volunteers. Without them none of this would have been possible. (They unloaded the entire truck today)
Many were complete strangers when we started and now act as if they have known each other forever
I am extremely lucky
Finally please consider donating a pint of blood at the local blood center as with everything else going on blood donations are down.
