NEARLY 500 PROM DRESSES AND GOWNS AVAILABLE FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
Staten Island Organizations, Schools and Businesses Partner to Allow Young Ladies Impacted by Sandy to go to Their Proms
Where to Turn, a local Staten Island not for profit (www.where-to-turn.org) is partnering with The Giving Circle, Danielle’s Cleaners and New Dorp High School to provide a prom experience to any young lady impacted by Sandy.
Over the past 2 months nearly 500 prom dresses both new and gently used have been collected.
Each dress will be dry cleaned at Danielle’s Cleaners in Great Kills.
We will also be collecting prom appropriate shoes and accessories and recruiting hair stylists to provide makeovers for all participants.
The dresses will be distributed at a special event in late March (date to be determined) being put together at New Dorp High School with the help of students from various high schools on Staten Island.
This program is open to any victim of Sandy in Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, Long Island and New Jersey.
Any young lady wishing to participate need only send her name contact information and FEMA number to firstname.lastname@example.org
Sandy victims needing dresses for graduations or sweet sixteens can also apply.
We have received ne dresses from a company in New England as well as red carpet dresses from a PR firm in Hollywood
What we need now are stylists to donate their time to do makeovers for these girls.
We also need more shoes and accessories.
If you would like to participate or if you have any questions please give us a call at 718-966-6531 or e-mail us at email@example.com
Any dresses that remain after the event will be available to any less fortunate young lady so they too can go to their proms.
We are looking for some young ladies to model a few of the dresses and are hoping that a few of the local news outlets will help us spread the word
Thank you in advance for your generosity and we hope that you will help us give each of these girls the prom experience they deserve.
