The Staten Island Community and Interfaith Long Term Disaster Recovery Organization will be meeting this Wednesday, March 27th from 5:00-7:00pm at Olivet Presbyterian Church at 97 Myrtle Ave. Staten Island NY 10310. As it is Passover and Holy Week, we will not conduct major votes at this meeting.

The purpose of our meetings is to collaborate and share resources to foster an effective long term recovery on Staten Island in response to super storm Sandy as well as provide a vehicle for disaster preparedness and future emergency responses.

Our time will be used to do introductions and updates, meet within committee groups, and report back to the wider group.

Lots of good news to share!
**FEMA has extended the Transitional Sheltering Assistance program in New York which allows eligible survivors from Hurricane Sandy who cannot return to their homes to stay in participating hotels. The new checkout date for those in the TSA program is April 14, 2013

**Although the deadline to register with FEMA is March 29th, FEMA will continue to have an on-the-ground presence at the Disaster Recovery Center (1976 Hylan Blvd.) through the month of April.

**The mayor's office has put out the plan for distributing NYC's $1.77 billion of federal funds "to address the most urgent housing, business, and infrastructure needs" (from the Plan, at page 30). Some of the federal aid for areas affected by Hurricane Sandy will come through a program called Community Development Block Grants (CDBG). The chart found at the link below summarizes how New York City plans to use this money. Please read CDBG-DR Action Plan A and add your comments to the plan. We will discuss how we want to comment as a coalition this Wednesday.
Comments are due April 4, 2013 right before midnight.

To Read or Download the Action Plan A.

To Comment on the full CDBG-DR Action Plan A.

At the end of the comment period, all comments shall be reviewed and a City response will be incorporated into the document. A summary of the comments and the City’s responses will be submitted to HUD with the final Action Plan A. The revised Action Plan including the public comments and responses will be posted on this website.
