The Staten Island Community and Interfaith Long Term Disaster Recovery Organization will be meeting this Wednesday, April 3rd from 12:00-2:00pm at the Unitarian Church at 312 Filmore St. Staten Island NY 10301.

The purpose of our meetings is to collaborate and share resources to foster an effective long term recovery on Staten Island in response to super storm Sandy as well as provide a vehicle for disaster preparedness and future emergency responses. All interested residents, faith communities, and disaster recovery organizations who wish to contribute to this effort are more than welcome to attend.

This week, Frank Schimenti from the Department of Buildings will be present to answer questions related to the buy-out and new flood maps.
Peter Gudaitis from New York Disaster Interfaith Services will also be speaking with us about the unmet needs roundtables and a Home Depot portal for purchasing significantly discounted rebuilding materials.

Congratulations to all involved in our community conversation on the CDBG-DR plan last night! Here are some links to press coverage of the event:

Our ‘legal, policy, and advocacy’ committee has completed a rough draft of our LTRO comment on the plan for federal spending, incorporating feedback from our meeting last Wed and last night’s event. Please read the attached document. Tomorrow, we will invite feedback on the draft and vote to post a final version to nyc.gov before the Thursday deadline.
Remember that you still have time to post your own comments on the plan at nyc.gov!

Please help advertise our Sandy Help Fairs continuing every Saturday through April from 9am-3pm at the Disaster Recovery Center at 1976 Hylan Blvd. A flyer is attached. If you would like to host a table at any/all of these events please let Sal or I know – if you have services for Sandy victims we want you there!

Minutes from last Wednesday and Monday night are attached.
