From Wed Apr 17, 2013 12:00 pm to Wed Apr 17, 2013 2:00 pm (included)
The Staten Island Community and Interfaith Long Term Recovery Organization will be meeting this Wednesday, April 17th from 12:00-2:00pm at the Unitarian Church at 312 Filmore St. Staten Island, NY 10301.
The purpose of our meetings is to collaborate and share resources to foster an effective long term recovery on Staten Island in response to super storm Sandy as well as provide a vehicle for disaster preparedness and future emergency responses. All interested residents, faith communities, and disaster recovery organizations who wish to contribute to this effort are more than welcome to attend.
This Wednesday, Peter Gudaitis from New York Disaster Interfaith Services will update us on the unmet needs roundtable process and on a portal for ordering rebuilding supplies at a significant discount.
Please email me any comments you have on the by-laws (attached) to be given to the mission/structure/finance committee and to facilitate our conversation this Wednesday.
While the deadline to register with FEMA and SBA has officially passed, the temporary shelter assistance (TSA) program has been extended. The new checkout date for those in the TSA program is May 1, 2013. FEMA will call applicants eligible for the extension to notify them of the new checkout date.
**Jezreel International, Upstate New York Cares, and Home Depot have partnered together to send our LTRO two 53’’ trailers full of rebuilding supplies for Sandy survivors. We are excited for this partnership to continue throughout the year. There will be a press conference and unloading of the supplies Tuesday, April 16th from 11:00am-12:00pm at Mt. Loretta Church, 6581 Hylan Blvd. Please come and say a few words about the recovery efforts, invite your media and elected official contacts, and bring volunteers to unload.
**Our Sandy Help Fair is continuing every Saturday in April from 9am-3pm at the Disaster Recovery Center on 1976 Hylan Blvd with translation services. New residents are coming through every Saturday looking for support in their recovery. If you would like to host a table, email Karen and prepare to be at the DRC to set up at 8:30am Saturday.
**You are cordially invited to attend Project Hospitality’s Spring Luncheon set for Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 11:30am at the Staten Island Hilton Garden Inn. Honorees include the following fine people who will receive the Super Storm Sandy Humanitarian Award: Tom Cunsolo, Donna Graziano, Goldi Guerra, Farid Kader, Derek Tabacco, and Aiman Youssef. We hope that you can join us to celebrate their outstanding hurricane relief efforts.
