Press Conference to discuss next steps in our ongoing battle to address the Sandy related mold issue on Staten Island



WHEN: Saturday June 13, 2013

TIME: 11:00 AM



Please join Beacon of Hope NY, Where to Turn, The Everything Mold Discussion Group, local elected officials and city agencies as we discuss our next steps in working together to combat Sandy related mold on Staten Island.



Topics will include:



Tracking and identifying mold infested abandoned homes

Having the Health Department inspect identified homes for health issues

Identifying owners of such properties (including banks and mortgage companies) and holding them responsible for remediation

Elected officials helping us recruit volunteers from impacted areas in their districts

The responsibility of the owners and the city for red-tagged homes.

311 and the reporting of mold infested and abandoned homes

Working with BOH NOLA, Yellow Boots, BOHNY, New Dorp Beach Civic, Midland Beach Civic to canvass and map progress in New Dorp and Midland Beach

Using data and lessons learned from New Orleans and other storm impacted areas to develop a comprehensive plan

Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative and other plans used in Massachusetts and Cleveland to restore abandoned homes and save neighborhoods
